About the Chorale
The Missouri State Concert Chorale, directed by Dr. Guy B. Webb, has toured extensively throughout the United States, to Puerto Rico, and in six concert tours to Europe that included London, Southampton, Brussels, Paris, Tours, Cologne, Hannover, Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin, Vienna, Bratislava, Prague, Budapest, Venice, Florence, Rome, and cathedral cities in the Netherlands, Poland, Iceland, Denmark, and Sweden. The select choir of 52 voices has performed in New York’s Lincoln Center and for national and divisional conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference.
In May of 2005 the Chorale sang at The Riverside Church in New York City and then toured to the Netherlands to perform three concerts - one at the Grote Kerk of Monnickendam, one at the Westerkerk in Amsterdam where the queen was married and where Rembrandt is buried, and a concert at the Sint Jan Kerk in in Maastrict, where the Chorale sang a joint concert with the Humboldt University Choir from Berlin. They also visited Aachen, Germany and ended their tour with five days in Paris with two concerts - one at the La Trinté Eglise (church of Oliver Messiaen) and the other at St. Sulpice (church of Charles Widor).
In 2005 the Chorale also sang at the Missouri Music Educators Convention at Tan-Tar-A and in four concerts at the National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association in Los Angeles, California, including a concert at the much-acclaimed Walt Disney Concert Hall.
In addition to traveling across the country and abroad, the Chorale does a number of tours throughout Missouri during the school year. The Chorale alternates January tours to the Kansas City and St. Louis area does each year sings for Springfield area schools. The Chorale also performs regulrly with the Springfield Symphony, and each May the Chorale combines with other choirs in the department and the MSU Symphony to present the President’s Concert—dedicated to the performance of major choral works. Last May they performed the Mozart “C minor Mass” and on May 6 they will perform the Mahler “Symphony No. 8.” In May the Chorale will travel to Boston and New York City for a concert tour.
